Reactive Dyes Properties, classification and its application to cellulose Fibre

Reactive Dyes Properties and its application to cellulose Fibre

  1. Reactive Dyes Forms Covalent bond with the Cotton Through Nucleophilic Substitution and addition Mechanism.
  2. It Chemically reacts with cellulose to form a covalent bond between dye and dye, that's why it is called Reactive Dye.
  3. Fastness Properties are good to accept wash fastness due to the hydrolytic nature of the dye.
  4. Salt is added For Batter Exhaustion.
  5. Soaping and Washing remove all superficial and hydrolyzed dyes.
  6. Do not show any change in color during dyeing.
  7. Lage availability of shades.

Classification Of Reactive Dyes
Depending upon the no. of reactive groups
  1. Monofunctional Reactive Dyes
  2. Bifunctional Reactive Dyes
