MANUFACTURING WOOL PRODUCTS: A SUMMARY
Did you know that yarn can be turned into many different knitted structures to be used for anything from shaped knitwear to fabric for underwear? In this module, you will learn all about manufacturing knitted fabric and knits from wool yarn.
In previous modules, you learnt how greasy wool is processed via the worsted and woollen routes to create yarn. In this module, you will expand your understanding and learn how yarn can be knitted into different fabrics.

WEAVING AND KNITTING
After the wool has been manufactured into yarn, it can be knitted or woven into different fabrics. In this module, you will learn about the process of knitting wool into fabric.
You will learn about:
• yarn selection
• knitting machines
• knitting gauges
• common wool knit structures.
You will cover weaving Manufacturing woven fabric.
DYEING AND FINISHING
After you have learned about making fabrics by knitting and weaving yarn, you will learn how fabrics are finished using dyeing and finishing processes.
